Alberto Marquez

Alberto Marquez studied classical guitar in his hometown of Caracas with guitarists Samuel Granados and Luis Zea. He also participated as an active student of classical guitar master classes with Alirio Diaz (Venezuela), Carlos Bonell (England), Carlos Barbosa-Lima (Brasil),
James Piorkowski (U.S.A.), Berta Rojas (Paraguay), Aldo Lagrutta (Venezuela) and also took courses on Theory of improvisation over jazz standards with Gerry Weil.
From 2006 to 2013 he worked as a classical guitar teacher at the Emil Friedman High School in Caracas and as an electric bass player for the southern rock band Greasy Grapes with whom he recorded the albums "At the Back of the Hill", "Headed South”, and Lengua Madre. In 2013 he earned a Bachelor's degree in Music Performance at the University of Arts (UNEARTE) with a major in classical guitar.
Alberto enjoys working with students on the repertoire of their preference, in combination with academic material to enhance aspects of theory and sight reading.
