Juanita Trexel
Piano • Saxophone
Juanita Trexel grew up in International Falls, MN, and is married to Jonathan, an Air Force retiree of 21 years. They have six grown children, all of whom were homeschooled, and seven grandchildren. She has been teaching piano to students of all ages for 30 years, and saxophone for 15 years.
Juanita has had a love of music from an early age. She appreciated her piano and saxophone education in elementary and junior and senior high school, and played saxophone in school and church orchestras and jazz band. Juanita continued studying piano in college at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL. During their many travels in the military, she has been church pianist, played for many high school and church choirs, and accompanied instrumentalists at juries and competitions.
After Jonathan retired from the Air Force, Juanita lived for 20 years in Nebraska and was a member of the Lincoln Music Teachers Association (LMTA) and the National Music Teachers Association (NMTA). In addition to being a great learning experience, such memberships also gave her students the opportunities to play in festivals and other performing events in the community.
Juanita has seen her students win awards and go on to study music in college. Her greatest joy, however, is seeing students have fun making music and making people happy. It’s Juanita’s desire to keep music education enjoyable for her students and give them this art that can be with them for the rest of their lives.
